Lace weight yarns

Lace weight yarns are perfect for very light and airy garments or beautiful scarves and shawls with lace patterns. Try holding a lace weight yarn double or triple to create a less etheral fabric! You can also hold a lace weight yarn together with a strand of another, heavier yarn - we all love silk mohair for that fluffy halo it adds to any project! 

Yarns are divided into different categories depending on how thick they are, and how many stitches per 10 cm they normally create. Lace weight is the first category, meaning the thinnest, finest yarns belong here. Estimating gauge for lace weight yarns can be difficult as they are normally knitted on larger needles to create lace patterns or an open, airy kind of fabric. Lace weight yarns can often be held together with other, heavier yarns to play with gauge, texture and colour.
