We Are Makers

We Are Makers is an independent print magazine documenting the lives and work of craftspeople, artists and makers around the world. Every issue is built through time spent in workshops and studios, gathering stories through in-depth conversations, observation and documentary photography. This is not a how-to magazine, but an insight into the people behind the work and the lives they have built through making.

Edition 19 takes readers to workshops across mainland Orkney, Scotland, the Beskid Mountains of Poland, Maine, USA, and an adventure to find craft in Latvia. Publishers Kate and Jack meet furniture makers, jewellers, broom makers, blacksmiths, lace makers, ceramicists, and more. Across 160 pages, each story offers a rare look inside working studios, creative businesses and the lives behind craft, celebrating both long-standing craft traditions and contemporary makers.

In edition 18, we explored Vancouver and Haida Gwaii, the island of Crete in Greece, and the southwest corner of  North Carolina. This edition continues MAKE IT, a 16-page section of practical advice and lessons from makers who’ve done the hard yards and are eager to share their findings with other creatives.
