Dunsmåla is a lovely yarn spun from wool from a flock of Finull sheep just 30 minutes away from Elk market yarn. The sheep were sheared and their white wool skirted and graded on the farm, and then sent to Båvens spinnhus, a small spinning mill some 100 km south of Stockholm.
This yarn has a soft, wooly handle and is very bouncy and lively, with lots of character! Finull is a native Swedish breed that produces a lovely soft, white wool and the yarn has good stitch definition and a rounded appearance. It's suitable for outdoor sweaters as well as scarves and smaller accessories, and will do a great job in either stockinette, with cables and textures or in colourwork projects.
This micro batch was carefully hand dyed in six complementary colours by Lotta H Löthgren here in the forests of southern Småland, making the yarn as locally produced as possible. Each skein weighs approximately 100 g, +/- 10%. Expect some irregularities in spinning consistency and the occasional piece of hay or straw caught in the wool - this yarn is hand crafted in every step!
